While I have never desired to work in an office setting, I like the ARC office because I know that incredible changes take place there.
Cassie Janke, Spring 2007 ARC Intern
MN Advocates was very prepared for interns. There was an intern room where we were all able to have access to a computer and the internet. Having your own workspace is somewhat rare as an intern and I believe it was extremely helpful in terms of productivity.
Haley Wotzka, Spring MNHR 2007 Intern
I am interested in attending law school and pursuing a career in the legal field. Before interning with WATCH, however, I had never actually been into a courtroom or observed actual proceedings. This internship has provided me with the opportunity to visit and observe numerous courts and to get a feel for the actual day-to-day proceedings of the courts. I have learned what is to be expected from judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, bailiffs, etc. In that respect, this internship has been invaluable in exposing me to the realities of how the judicial system actually functions inside of the courtrooms.
Michael Schafer, Spring 2007 WATCH Intern
As an intern at MAHR, I was assigned to work on the “Oromo Project.” The project is designed to conduct fact-finding interviews in Minnesota about human rights abuses against the Oromo people in Ethiopia with the goal of raising awareness and providing information for advocacy efforts to improve the human rights situation in Ethiopia. The Oromo Project presents Minnesota Advocates with the opportunity to bring a human rights issue that directly affects a large number of ethnic Oromo members of our local community into global discussion by documenting systematic human rights violations.
Fowzi Hassan, Spring 2005 MAHR Intern
